Dress Code for Season 10
2008-2009

Enrollment Day is August 16
Classes begin September 2

A dancer's attire greatly determines the attitude toward his/her class work, and therefore we require that the standard of appropriate neatness be observed at all times.
If a student arrives to class not in proper dress code, they may be asked to change clothes or sit out. Any class time missed due to a student changing clothes cannot be made up. A Dress Code notice will be sent home with the student for their parents to review.
Please make every effort to come to class in proper dress code with hair securely up.

General Dress Code Rules:
No tube top style leotards, no spaghetti straps of any kind, no leotards with cutouts, no stomachs showing, no french cut or thong style leotards. No t-shirts with questionable slogans, printing, or designs - solid colored t-shirts are preferred.  If you have a question whether or not your attire is appropriate, please do not wear it.

Dress Code Things to Remember:
• Be dressed properly for class, according to the dress code. Remember to have your hair pulled up and out of your face - see class hair requirements.
• Jewelry should not be worn during class with the exception of small earrings and wedding rings.
• Leotards are like bathing suits and are not to be worn with underwear. There reaches an age at which some dancers need additional coverage for support and modesty. There are specific undergarments made for dancers that can be purchased at dancewear stores.
• Dancers should practice good personal hygiene by bathing daily and wearing deodorant.
• Avoid wearing anything with a scent, such as lotions or perfumes. Many people are sensitive to smells and some even have allergic reactions.

Where Do I Buy Items for Dress Code?:
Victory School of the Arts carries a small selection of dancewear in our lobby. You may stop by anytime during class hours to purchase items such as shoes, tights, leotards, vsa merchandise, and more.

Dress Code items may also be purchased at your local dancewear store or boutique.
Many department stores now carry children's dancewear at very reasonable prices. Tights, leotards and dance pants are available at many of your favorite stores, including: Target, Academy, Wal-Mart, Burlington, Ross, and more.

NEW! You may now order your dress code items directly from Curtain Call online by clicking here. Items purchased give VSA points towards our yearly costume order for our end-of-season production. Plus, shipping is free to your home!

Shoe Information:
Victory School of the Arts is registered at Creative Dancewear in Cassidy Square (Penn & Britton, 843.2545) and Showbiz Dancewear (NW 63rd & Meridian, 840.4406). They will have a list of proper shoes to purchase for your class. Let the associate working know you are dancing at Victory, and they will show you the proper shoes.

Notes About Shoes:
Do not wear dance shoes outside! Oils and dirt are hazardous when tracked into the studio rooms and are damaging to the shoe. To help control excessive noise, please do not wear tap shoes outside of the studio.

Shoes need to fit properly. Visiting a dancewear store for your shoes will help in the proper fitting of dance shoes. Please remember that dance shoes fit snugly without much room to grow. They do not fit like regular street shoes.

If you are unsure where to sew your elastic straps on your ballet shoes, please ask your instructor. Leather dance shoes will stretch. Canvas dance shoes will not. Ties on the top of ballet shoes should be tied and tucked into the shoe.
